Chosen Finalist in Hiring Our Heroes’ Small Business Grant Program!
Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide initiative launched by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and serves as a pivotal nationwide platform to connect the military community- service members, military spouses, and veterans- with American businesses to create meaningful employment opportunities. Through a variety of programs and resources, including hiring fairs, networking events, mentorship opportunities, and online resources, Hiring Our Heroes connects veterans and military spouses with employers who are eager to hire individuals with military experience and is an excellent comprehensive resource supporting military spouse employment, veteran job placement and transition assistance for veterans. By bridging the gap between military service and civilian employment, Hiring Our Heroes aims to empower veterans and their families as they navigate the transition to civilian life and build successful careers beyond the military.
Illustrating this mission is the Hiring Our Heroes’ Small Business Grant Program made possible through the generosity of the FedEx Founder’s Fund. A-Team Interpreting®, selected from 350 applicants, advanced as a finalist. On 17 April 2024, Hiring Our Heroes announced five grant recipients from the top 20 finalists for the 2024 Small Business Grant Program, each receiving a one-time $10,000 grant aimed at supporting military-connected entrepreneurs.
During this ceremony commemorating the achievements of veteran and military spouse-owned small businesses, finalists were honored by the following keynote speakers: the FedEx founder and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Fred Smith; the Honorable Patrick Murphy, 32nd Under Secretary of the U.S. Army, Hiring Our Heroes Ambassador, and the Wharton Business School Faculty member; and Hiring Our Heroes President Eric Eversole. One resounding takeaway and inspirational sentiment from their addresses was the acknowledgment that entrepreneurship demands grit and tenacity.
